21 days?! Whoa! Sorry folks! I've been making sure I catch the last glimpse of summer before it runs away from the fall. I've been doing that by dwelling in my basement writing music and making artwork. Haha. Down in the shadows. Now let's listen to some new music!

Ron Sexsmith - Streaming music on CBC Radio

http://music.cbc.ca/#/artists/Ron-Sexsmith

For some reason it took me years to finally sit down and give a good listen to Ron Sexsmith. Maybe I didn't get it before, or maybe I was being stubborn and intentionally avoiding it. Either way it's been my loss. I find his songs to be old and new at the same time. Familiar chord progressions with unfamiliar melodies. Give the CBC playlist a listen and find out for yourself!

Top Tracks: Cheap Hotel, Never Been Done, Just My Heart Talkin'

I actually met Ron Sexsmith at a Fucked Up show a couple of years ago (Halloween night). He was with two women who were dressed up like him. Creepy AND awesome.

Dine Alone Summer Sampler - Free Download

I've been listening to songs from this sampler a ton lately. All of the songs are good, but not all great. I've put a list of my favourite tracks below. You can stream the entire album and download it through the link below. It's almost fall but I think these tracks will suit it perfectly.

Happy Friday!

Hey everyone! I've been keeping busy with the music of the Canadian summer. Sorry for the lack of posts over the last couple of weeks. I've got some great news and music to share with you!

This Sunday August 11th I will be performing at the Festival of Friends in Ancaster, ON (close to Hamilton). I will be sharing the stage with some great musicians and then some big names perform throughout the day. You can check it out here: www.festivaloffriends.ca.

Last weekend I was at Blue Skies Music Festival in Clarendon, ON. I was able to see some amazing musicians perform and speak with them afterwards. I've been going to this festival since 2006 and this was one of the best years. Very mellow and good vibes all around. Some awesome jams too! I'll be sharing some music that I heard over the weekend.

Next up for me is the Festival of Friends and the start of my Fall Tour. You can check out the dates on my website www.AlexLeggett.com. I will be opening up for By Divine Right for the first show. You can stream their new album below.

That's all for now. Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy the music!

David Francey - Broken Glass Live - Video
I've been a big fan of David's music for a few years, and I finally got to see him perform and meet him at Blue Skies last weekend. He had a stellar performance and is an awesome guy. Very down to earth. Below is a link to the video that got me hooked on his music.

This is an awesome song. I'll be sharing the stage with Dragonette this Sunday at Festival of Friends.
Volcano - Dragonette

I love this song and the video is fantastic. I saw this after I finished the video for Time, Time, Time. I'm glad because this blows it out of the WATER! haha.
Drinkalottawater by CA Smith

HUGE fan of Andre Charles Theriault. He hasn't really been around or released any music in a while, as far as I know. I would love to see this guy perform someday. Not sure if it will ever happen. Enjoy!

Introducing Alex Leggett

Hi,

My name is Alex Leggett. I'm an independent musician living in Toronto, ON. Anelia has been kind enough to invite me to be a guest writer for a few weeks to talk about music and life in the arts. I've been writing and performing music for 10 years. I'm from Gananoque, ON.

You can listen to my music, view some performance videos, and read my full bio at www.AlexLeggett.com. I recently released an EP in March and spent a month performing in Turks & Caicos. I'm currently booking a tour for the Fall and writing my next record. I plan to tour across Canada again in 2014.

Over the next couple of weeks I will be sharing new music (both that I've written and what I'm currently listening to), upcoming shows in Southern Ontario, music news, tidbits, and other exciting stuff! I'm glad to have you with me on this wonderful musical journey!

Every month, an artist will be featured and post about their art and life. Also, our resident blogger Renée Mcphee will be here regularly to greet you about various topics.
Oh and who am I? Well, I am Anélia, your host for this enjoyable ride you will have with us!

Thanks!
